Adopt a book already listed
0 books are listed and waiting, each chosen because it can be done: the text is public domain, the city is real, and the places in it are findable. Open one and it walks you through fetching the text, working the place queue, and writing an honest waypoint.
2
Propose a book that is not here
There are two kinds, and they are mapped differently.
- Public domain
- Full text, verbatim quotes, position measured from the text itself. It has to be on Standard Ebooks so the build can check every quote against the book.
- Still in copyright
- Mapped as a cited book: locations only, no text stored, no passage quoted. A place where a scene happens is a fact, and the notes are our own. This is how Harry Potter is on the atlas.
3
Fix something that is wrong
A coordinate in the wrong place, a certainty that should read inferred, a rights note nobody finished checking. Every mapped book has a “Suggest a correction” link, or open an issue directly.
For the full picture, read CONTRIBUTING, or why it is built this way. You will never be asked to upload a photograph. You write data: a coordinate, a verbatim quote, a source, and an honest label saying how sure you are.
