Jonathan Harker The Carpathians, above the Borgo Pass
The Borgo Pass, 5 May · 0% through the novel
The district he named is in the extreme east of the country, just on the borders of three states, Transylvania, Moldavia and Bukovina, in the midst of the Carpathian mountains; one of the wildest and least known portions of Europe.
The Count's castle stands somewhere above the Borgo Pass, in the mountains Harker cannot find on any map. The pass is real and still crossed; the castle is not, which is why it is drawn from the place rather than pinned to it.
inspired by Castle Dracula is Stoker's invention. He sited it beyond the Borgo (Tihuța) Pass in the Carpathians, a real mountain road he mapped without ever visiting. The pin marks the pass.
