A century of Zambia in one saga, following three intertwined families. It begins at the Old Drift, the colonial river settlement by the Victoria Falls on the Zambezi, moves through the flooding of the Kariba Dam, and settles into modern Lusaka, its compounds and its university, before pressing on into a near future. The map runs some 470 kilometres north-east from the falls to the capital.
